Wow, so I'm a hypocrite.

Back in the summer, when the new Ninja Turtles movie  came out and I hated it so much I can't bring myself to watch it.  Not even for free from the library.  Just no.  Not giving it my time or money.

Why?  Because ever since I was tiny, I LOVED the Ninja Turtles.  Absolutely loved them from the 1980's cartoon to the live action (that doesn't seem like the correct words) movies to the live-action show to the CGI movie.  (And that's where I stopped,  due to availabily of the newer cartoons on channels I could get.)

But the new movie?  I think from the very first commercial I was turned off.  I think first it was the turtle's new look - the faces were just so off-putting.  Nothing like the "cute" and "friendly" faces of the originals.  And then they changed Michaelangelo, the designated goofy one (and my favourite) into the horny one.  Not freakin' cool!  And from the way I hear it, him hitting on April is the same as hitting on his mother.  Yikes.

But after all the hatred I spewed at the Ninja Turtles, for their darker, edgier, explosionier look, I find myself in a quandary.  Because a darker, grittier, explosionier reboot of the Power Rangers has come to be on the internet, and I love it more than words can say.

I like everything about it.  The actors are great, the story is fabulous and the special effects are so much fun.  I get what the creator was thinking - that okay, yeah maybe teenagers given superpowers and asked to fight intergalatic wars might grow up to be a little broken.

And I loved the goofiness of the Power Rangers as a child too.  So I am surprised at how much I like the MMPR murderfest.  And the reboot has me in anticipation to the new MMPR movie, even though I am certain they will be nothing like each other.  But I still can't try the new Ninja Turtles.  Dark and gritty only works some of the time, I guess.  Like yes for Nolan Batman but maybe not for Snyder Batman.  I dunno.  Can't quite reconcile why I'm willing to watch one kid friendly show turn into a chapter of the Watchmen, but not let another have a turtle hump Megan Fox's leg.  Hypocritical logic here.
